Archiving E-Newsletters
What do you do with all those past issues of Newsletters you have worked so hard writing and editing? Chances are many of these newsletters have important information that remains relevant. This article will outline how you can turn these past issues into increased traffic, higher search engine ranking, and increased subscribers.
By archiving your past newsletters on your website not only will you please your readers by providing them a quick reference area to valuable information, but there are a number of benefits to reap that are not as obvious:
1. Track Readership: By linking to the web link of your existing e-newsletter campaign, you are able to track how many readers are opening and reading your archived e-newsletters.
2. Improve Search Engine Optimisation: Because your e-newsletter is being hosted by Ezemail and the links to your articles etc are linking to your website i.e http://www.yourwebsite.com/article1.html you will be able to greatly improve your Search Engine Optimisation - the more external links you have coming to your website, the greater your page rank. Note: you will have to turn 'link tracking' off within past campaigns to take advantage of this.
3. Entice more traffic and more sign up: Once you archive your newsletters to your website, the content within these newsletters will be found by search engines. Your archived e-newsletter can become an introduction to your company for those doing specific searches on articles within your newsletters.
*TIP to increase subscribers: Allow your subscribers to subscribe via your email. As the archived email will be linked to your website, it will get 'found' by the Search Engines, thus allowing web searchers to find your e-newsletter , without necessarily coming to your website first. If they like what they see, they can subscribe within the archived newsletter.
How to Archive Newsletters, Using the Ezemail system.
1. Create a new category i.e 'Newsletter_Archive' (optional)
2. Create a new recipient and assign it to this category. Use an email address which enables you to retrieve the email.
3. If you want to benefit by the external links which will be linking from the e-newsletters to your site, you will need to go in the Header and turn Link Click Tracking off before sending the campaign to this category. (optional)
4. Send the campaign to this category, which will send the e-newsletter to your email address.
5. When you have received it, click the web link at the top of the email. This will open the newsletter up in a browser window.
6. Copy the URL. This will look something like: http://123campaign.com/web_link.php?ml_uid=43dfbd332a865&lf=2006_02
7. Create an E-Newsletter Archive page within your website and paste this code as the link to the appropriate e-newsletter.
8. To archive your past issues of your e-newsletter, you simply need to send an email to your archive category from each of your past e-newsletters. Then proceed as above.
By archiving your e-newsletters and linking them to your website, you will not only increase exposure of your e-newsletters to web searches, and offer valuable information to your website readers, but you will also enable the search engines to rank your website more highly because of the added external links to your website.
